Refurbishment and Demolition Surveys For Public Sector Buildings
If your public sector building is due to undergo refurbishment or demolition works, a Refurbishment and Demolition Survey (or an R&D asbestos survey, previously known as a Type 3 asbestos survey) is needed. If your public sector building has an older structure, an R&D survey will be recommended, as the invasive testing procedure is a comprehensive solution for the higher risk of containing ACMs that older constructions pose.
During an R&D survey, it is hugely important that all users of the public sector building are vacated from the premises in order to not only guarantee 100% compliance with health and safety regulations, but also in order to keep everyone using the building safe. Previously referred to as Type 2 asbestos surveys, Asbestos Management Surveys (AMS) involve a much less invasive testing procedure than R&D asbestos surveys. This means it is safe for all users of the public sector building to remain on the premises, if desired, while the survey is taking place.
