If asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) are suspected within a property, it is for the Duty Holder to provide adequate care and attention to protect any occupants from asbestos exposure. This begins with a survey. Asbestos Surveys Across The North West
The only way to determine the presence of asbestos is with an asbestos survey. For over 30 years, the asbestos consultants at Pillars Environmental have been undertaking extensive and thorough Asbestos Management and Refurbishment and Demolition Surveys across the North West. We use a variety of observational and intrusive sampling methods to determine not just the presence of asbestos but also the type. This information will help a Duty Holder to determine the best course of action going forward.
- Asbestos Management Survey: Less intrusive techniques are required for this survey type and therefore occupants of the building can remain. Sampling techniques include visual and modest distribution. For example, we may remove a single ceiling tile for testing.
- Refurbishment and Demolition Survey: As the name suggests, this survey is best suited for properties where maintenance, refurbishments or demolitions are due to take place. The sampling techniques are more intrusive and therefore the building must remain vacant for the duration of the survey.

Asbestos Management Plan
An Asbestos Management Plan will outline the steps needed to secure the property and remain safe and compliant against asbestos. It offers all the tools a Duty Holder will need to uphold their duty lawfully including desired actions, timeframes and more.
