Professional asbestos surveys in Southport and the surrounding areas

Our dedicated team specialise in performing high-quality asbestos surveys in Southport, to help dutyholders assess the asbestos risk within their property.

It is the job of a building dutyholder to assess and manage the risk of asbestos within their property, as stated by the Health and Safety Executive. This is a complex and potentially dangerous job to complete, especially if you have no prior experience with asbestos and asbestos containing materials. However, we can help you to fulfil your legal obligations and ensure that any asbestos containing materials which may reside within your Southport property is discovered safely. Having worked with a wide range of properties, our team is well equipped to offer a bespoke service suited to your individual needs.

    Asbestos Surveys in Southport

At Pillars Environmental, we carry out two types of asbestos surveys:

The Refurbishment and Demolition Asbestos Survey (R&D Asbestos Survey) is a legal requirement for any property that was built before 2000 and, as the name suggests, where maintenance, refurbishment or demolition works are due to take place. We use a range of visual and intrusive techniques to carry out our survey and therefore we would require full access to the building (or areas where work is due to take place). The area under survey must be vacant before a Refurbishment and Demolition asbestos survey can take place.

An Asbestos Management survey uses less invasive techniques. Management surveys can be conducted by taking smaller samples, for example ceiling tiles, and therefore the building can remain occupied throughout the survey. It aims to highlight any asbestos containing materials that might be disturbed during normal occupancy. Where access is viable, the materials will be tested. If for any reason we cannot gain access, it would be assumed that asbestos is present. If material is found to have asbestos all other similar materials will be presumed to be containing asbestos too.

    Asbestos Management Plans in Southport

After your asbestos survey is complete, an asbestos management plan can be used to shape and document the commitments a dutyholder must make to ensure asbestos causes harm to any person or the environment.

A Pillars Environmental asbestos management plan details any asbestos containing materials found within a property and ensures they are dealt with correctly, in accordance with Health and Safety legislation. This can include monitor and review, undertake remedial works or remove. It will also set out what training may be required to complete each action in order to fulfil statutory obligations.

Your bespoke asbestos management plan will give you the tools to manage the risk of asbestos and allows you to fulfil your legal obligations in managing the asbestos risks within your Southport property.

    Asbestos Removal Management in Southport

Asbestos removal is a complex job to undertake. Due to this, the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) states for the majority of asbestos removal work, a licensed contractor is required. Our team can manage and oversee the removal of any asbestos in your Southport property, in compliance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations. The comprehensive asbestos management service means we can handle the job from start to finish. This includes:

    • Preparing the specifications,
    • Managing the tendering process,
    • Performing regular site audits whilst work is ongoing,
    • Providing continuous feedback,
    • Inspect documents provided by the removal contractor to ensure all information is correct and nothing is left outstanding.

Working with you to provide a safe environment

Safety is our main priority. By providing tailored solutions to a range of asbestos issues, our team work alongside you to ensure everyone remains compliant and most importantly safe.
