What is an Asbestos Re-inspection?
If your property contains asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) which, when discovered through an asbestos survey, were in good overall condition, you may have been advised to leave the ACMs in situ but check them over time to ensure that their condition does not worsen. Asbestos re-inspection is the process of checking any ACMs in your property on a regular basis to ensure they do not pose a threat to health. As the Dutyholder of a property, it is your responsibility to inspect ACMs periodically to make sure that they have not deteriorated or been damaged.
How often to reinspect your asbestos-containing materials will depend on a number of factors. For example, if the ACMs are situated in a high-traffic area of the property or if they are within a property of multiple occupants, where the likelihood of someone coming into contact with the ACM is heightened, inspections will be required more frequently.
